As an introvert, I have led my whole life through one on one conversations.
Myers-Briggs assesses me as an INFJ-A personality type. Apparently, I'm in a very rare category.
My perfectionist tendencies (I'm an electrical engineer by background) can keep me from taking risks and moving forward for fear of failure. I've struggled to ask for help.
Even though I've spent my whole life in leadership positions, I've struggled to speak my truths. There is still a mix of humility and fear of being judged in me.
I still sometimes feel guilty for taking time for myself. I am working on improving self compassion.
I love working out. You will find me in my home gym at 5:15AM, getting a sweat on to start my day through strength training, plyometrics or yoga.
I am a father of 5 (4 boys and a girl).
Our family dinner table usually has three separate conversations occurring concurrently. It is wild and fun.
I am fluent in both English and Japanese.
In 2015, I became a widower when my 3 boys were 5, 3 and 1 year olds. In those dark days, I dealt with deep grief and excruciating loneliness. It forced me to face the uncomfortable realities of my high performing ways and question the greater meaning of my life. Over time, with the loving guidance and support of a spiritual master, I dove deeper into my emptiness in ways that I didn't know existed. It was there that I found vast spaciousness.
During that time, I read a book by Richard Rohr called Falling Upward: A Spirituality For The Two Halves Of Life. He says, "The first task is to build a strong “container” or identity; the second is to find the contents that the container was meant to hold." It took me 8 years to arrive at a rough idea of what my container is meant to hold. I continue to build and refine the contents, I will never stop growing in service to my clients.
